Christine Lagarde has been pushing back against the markets that are looking for indications on when borrowing rates will be cut.
The central bank held interest rates steady for the first time in over a year last month.
Consumer prices are also estimated to have increased by a ‘hefty’ 0.5% in the month since July.
The ECB last increased its interest rates on 15 June by 0.25%.
